Then move the cursor to the end of the group and Press END POINT 1 - FINISH will return you to the LIST & SORT menu. 2 - LIST UP will sort the column that the cursor is㐞 on in ascending order. 3 - LIST DOWN will sort the column in descending order. 4 - SEARCH FOR will search for the next match of the cursor value. 5 - INSERT BREAKS will insert a line at each break point in the column. 6 - TEXT LINE converts the current line into a text line. 7 - DATA LINE converts the current line into a data line. ! 9 PRINT AND SAVE REPORTS Use to print a report or save to disk. 4 - 24 The list can be printed or saved as a word processing file. A message will ask you if you wan㐞t the column header printed. If you answer NO you can enter the number of lines of your listing (from the beginning) to be used as a report header. Enter 0 if you do not want a report header. 1 - FINISH will return you to the LIST & SORT menu. 2 - PRINT REPORT will print the listing on the printer. 3 - SAVE TO DISK will ask you for a file name then save the listing as a word processing disk file. (TXT will be at the end of the file name.) 4 - WRITE DIF FILE will save the listing in the standard㐞 DIF format to be use by spread sheets that read the DIF format (only DATA lines). 5 - SET PAGE FORMAT lets you set up the output format. 6 - SELECT AREA lets you define the rows to be printed. 7 - OUTPUT DEVICE lets you direct the printer output to other devices. ! 10 MATH Used to Total, Average, or take Standard Deviation. 4 - 28 To work with the entire column, move to the title box and Press a Function. To use each value move to that value and Press a function. 1 - FINISH will return you㐞 to the LIST & SORT menu. 2 - TOTAL will take the column total or a running total. 3 - AVERAGE will average the column or a group. 4 - STD DEV will only take the standard deviation of the entire column. 5 - INSERT Value will insert the value (in the message line at the bottom) below the location of the cursor. It is the element count if after an AVERAGE or STD DEV. 6 - INSERT Answer will insert the Answer (TOP OF THE COLUMN) or the message line answer (BOTTOM LEFT), below the location o㐞f the cursor. 7 - CLEAR COLUMN clears the math done on the column. ! 11 PRINTING A REPORT Used to print reports to the printer or disk. 4 - 32 Move the cursor to a box to be used as a sorting key and press PRINT REPORT [5] or SAVE TO DISK [6]. To use multiple sort keys press USE AS SORT KEY [2] to build a multiple sort key report. (This will require extra processing). 1 - FINISH will take you back to the last menu. 2 - USE AS SORT KEY will use the box the cursor is on as a SORT KEY. 3 - ENTE㐞 R LIMITS will let you enter selection limits. 4 - REPORT PARAM lets you enter report parameters. 5 - PRINT REPORT will print the report to the printer. 6 - SAVE TO DISK will ask for a file name and save the report to the disk. 7 - CLEAR SORT KEYS will clear all of the selected sort keys. ! 12 NOT USED This help screen is not assigned ! 13 REPORT PARAMETERS Used to control the report layout. 4 - 35 1 - FINISH will return you to the PRINT REPORT menu. 2 - PAGE NUMBER lets you enter the startin㐞g page number. The Default is 1. 3 - PAPER LENGTH lets you select the number of print lines on the report paper to control the page breaks. The Default is 66. 4 - SEQUENCE COUNTER lets you change the reports sequential counter. This counter is incremented each time the a Sequence Counter is Printed. 5 - PRINT IF ZERO will blank any number fields if the value is Zero. 6 - OUTPUT DEVICE lets you assign the printer output device. 7 - PRINTER CONTROL lets you build a printer control sequence. !㐞 14 SELECTING FOLDERS MENU Used to switch the displayed Folder. 4 - 40 1 - FINISH will return you to the Using a Folder menu. 2 - DISPLAY DIRECTORY will display the folder directory to select and open other folders. The external records will be read in, starting with Box Number 1 through last box. Control characters are ignor㐞ed. A Carriage Return, CHR(13), can be used to terminate data fields within the record. 1 - FINISH will return you back to the OTHER FUNCTIONS menu. 2 - LOAD ALL will automatically load all records from the external file. 3 - ONE BY ONE will display each record one at a time. You can decide which entries you want saved. 4 - RANDOM LOAD will let you control the memory location in the external file to determine the structure and layout. ! 17 SELECTING A FOLDER Used to open other folders. 㐞4 - 40 Move the selector to a folder title and press SELECT [2]. 1 - FINISH will return you to the Using a Folder menu. 2 - SELECT will open and display the selected folder. Remote folder function links will be established when opening a folder that uses folder functions. ! 18 SHOW/CLEAR LIMITS MENU Used to display and clear the limits. 4 - 20 Each limit is displayed at the bottom of the screen. If the word AND appears before the limit it means that the limit is AND'ed with the prevous entri㐞es. If the word OR appears then it shows the start of a new AND series. 1 - FINISH will return you to the ENTER LIMITS menu. 2 - FIRST ENTRY will display the first test limit entered. 3 - NEXT ENTRY will display the next test limit entered or the message "No more limits entered." will display if you are at the end. 4 - PREVIOUS ENTRY will display the last limit entered or the first limit if you are at the beginning. 5 - CLEAR ENTRY will clear the displayed limit. 6 - CLEAR ALL will clear 㐞all of the limits. ! 19 MAKING A FOLDER MENU Used when making new folders and reports. 4 - 42 Press WORK ON FOLDER/REPORT, type the labels, make boxes, Enter box names, Set up the storage type, turn Sort keys on & off, enter math, Link any external Folders (FOLDER FUNCTIONS), and press FINISH. 1 - FINISH allows you to exit and save or not save the current work. 2 - CHANGE TITLE lets you change the folder or report title. 3 - WORK ON (FOLDER - REPORT) is used to make new boxes and arrange the 㐞 Folder or Report you are working on. 4 - SORT KEYS is used to set up the sort keys and size. (Folders only) 5 - DATA & NAMES is used to change box data types and box names. 6 - MATH used to enter a math equations for the boxes. 7 - FOLDER FUNCTIONS used to link this folder to other folders. ! 20 SAVE AND EXIT Used to decide how to exit. 4 - 67 2 - SAVE & EXIT will save your Folder or Report (If an error occurs it will return to the Making a Folder menu). 3 - DON'T EXIT will take you back t㐞 o work on the Folder or Report. 4 - QUIT WO/SAVE will exit to the Master Menu WITHOUT Saving anything. COMMON ERRORS. DISK FULL 1 If you are not saving to the system disk then Remove the full disk, insert another, and save again. or 2 QUIT WITHOUT SAVING. FILE ALREADY EXISTS USE A DIFFERENT NAME. Change the name and save again. ! 21 WORKING ON FOLDER Used to lay out the folder screen. 4 - 43 Use the arrow keys to move around the folder area. Use the keyboard to make la㐞bels for the entry areas (Boxes). Move the cursor to the left hand location for a box and press START A BOX. 1 - FINISH will take you to the DATA & NAMES menu (if boxes exist). 2 - START A BOX will start a new or modify a box where the cursor is. Use the right and left arrow keys to set the box length. Press END BOX, [RETURN], or the Up or Down arrow to end the box. 3 - START A WINDOW will let you move or delete an area. Use the arrow keys to move right or down to make the window bigg㐞er. ! 22 MAKING A BOX Used to define entry areas. 4 - 44 Use the right arrow to make the box bigger and the left arrow to make the box smaller. The number at the left is the current size. Delete a box by moving the cursor until the length is 0. To change an existing box, move the cursor onto the box (anywhere), and Press START A BOX then make it larger or smaller. Boxes cannot be longer than 78 characters, and cannot overlap another box. Press END BOX, [RETURN], or the Up or Down arrow to㐞 end the box. [RETURN] will position the cursor underneath the beginning of the box. ! 23 MAKING A WINDOW Used to define an area. 4 - 46 Use the arrow keys to make the window larger by moving RIGHT and DOWN. Move UP and LEFT to make the window smaller. After windowing an area press PICK UP & CARRY [3] or DELETE [6]. 3 - PICK UP & CARRY will let you move the window. To drop it Press DROP [3]. You cannot drop a window on top of another box. 6 - DELETE will delete the area defined by the w㐞indow. To exit move up or left until there is no more window. ! 24 DATA & NAMES MENU Used to define the box's DATA types and NAMES. 4 - 48 Each box stores information. Since information comes in different forms it is important to control what is stored in a box. You don't want to be adding numbers and have a date appear. All boxes default to TEXT which can be letters, numbers and symbols. 1 - FINISH takes you to the SORT KEY MENU. 2 - TEXT INFO lets you save any characters in a box. (Left jus㐞tified) 3 - NUMBERS lets you save number values, positive or negative. 4 - DATES lets you build a date format. All date entries will be converted to that format. 5 - TIME lets you store Hours, Minutes and Seconds. 6 - YES/NO stores either a Y or N in the box. 7 - SEQUENCE COUNTER lets you enter a starting number to count up from. ! 25 NUMBER FORMAT MENU Used to define the number of decimal places. Press the function key that corresponds to the type of number stored. 1 - EXPONENT NOTATION u㐞se to save in scientific format. 2 - 0 use if you want to keep a quantity. 4 - 0.00 use to keep dollar and cent values. You must select a value to exit. ! 26 DATE FORMAT MENU Used to build a custom date format. Select the first part by pressing MM, DD, YY, or YYYY. To select a separator, use "-", "/" or ".". Then select the remaining MM, DD, YY or YYYY. The system will fill in the date if left blank, and will convert all entries to the exact format. It also checks for valid dates. You㐞 must build the full date to exit. ! 27 TIME FORMAT MENU Used to select to time format. Select the Time format. 2 - HR:MIN HOURS AND MINUTES 3 - MIN:SEC MINUTES AND SECONDS 4 - HR:MN:SC HOURS, MINUTES AND SECONDS The system will fill in the system time if left blank, and will convert all entries to the proper format. ! 28 SORT KEY MENU Used to select the sort keys for each box. 4 - 50 Sort keys are used to do rapid look up in your data base. The size of the sort key is show㐞n by the highlighted bar and the number at the top. Large Keys limit the total number of folder entries. 1 - FINISH will return you to the MAKING A FOLDER MENU. 2 - INCREASE KEY SIZE will increase the key size up to the maximum. The total key size (KEY SIZE * NUMBER OF KEYS) cannot exceed 240. 3 - DECREASE KEY SIZE will reduce the key size. Smallest key is 1. 4 - SORT KEY TOGGLE will turn sort keys on and off. 5 - MATCH TOGGLE defaults to allow MATCHING OK on sort keys. If NO MATCHING then㐞  duplicate sort keys are not allowed. 6 - CLEAR TOGGLE lets you repeat entries by not clearing them after saving. 7 - SAVE TOGGLE If DONT SAVE then the information in the box is not saved. ! 29 MATH MENU Used to set up equations or boxes. 4 - 54 Use the arrow keys to move from box to box and press ENTER EQUATION or TEXT ADDITION. 1 - FINISH will return you to the MAKING A FOLDER MENU. 2 - ENTER EQUATION can only be used with number boxes. The math equation answer is saved in the result box.㐞 3 - TEXT ADDITION lets you Concatenate (build strings) with box values or constants and save them in another box. 4 - TEST EQUATIONS lets you test the math. 5 - CLEAR EQUATION will clear the math equation from the box you're on. 6 - EDIT MASK builds a testing condition for entry checking. ! 30 MATH SYMBOLS Used to set up math equations. 4 - 56 Use the arrow keys to select the box to be used in the equation. Then use one of the functions +,-,*,/. The ^ can be used to take numbers to a power.㐞 Constants can be entered by typing in numbers. There is no function hierarchy so use "(" and ")" to control the math. Use BACKSPACE to correct mistakes. Press FINISH or [RETURN] when the equation is complete. ! 31 TEXT ADDITION Used to Concatenate strings together. 4 - 57 Strings can be concatenated to build a master sorting key. Any box can be concatenated into another box. (Other than Sequence Counter or Numbers) Move to the box to concatenate and press CONCAT [2]. 1 - FINISH will s㐞ave the equation and return you to the MATH MENU. 2 - CONCAT will let you concatenate several boxes together. Use BACKSPACE to correct mistakes. Use keyboard symbols to add constants, except "+", "(" or ")". Press FINISH or [RETURN] when the equation is complete. ! 32 TEST EQUATIONS Used to test the math and text addition. A Pass/Fail is reported. ! 33 FOLDER FUNCTIONS Used to link folders together. 4 - 59 Folder functions allow data to be transferred to and from other folders. 1 - FINISH will return you to the MAKING A FOLDER MENU. 2 - SAVE REMOTE saves the box value into a remote folder box. If no search has occurred then it is save as a new card. 3 - SAVE INDEXED saves the box value into a remote folder box. If no s㐞earch has occurred then it is save as a new card. 4 - GET REMOTE gets the remote box value after a successful remote search. 5 - GET INDEXED gets the remote box value after a successful remote search. 6 - SEARCH REMOTE uses the selected box to search in a remote folder box (with sort key) to get and put remote values. SAVE BY INDEX and GET BY INDEX use an indexed by box to retrieve the remote box. If the indexed by box is TEXT then it looks for the remote box by name. If it is a NUMBER then it 㐞searches by box Number. ! 34 SELECTING FOLDERS MENU Used to select the remote folder. 4 - 62 If no folders have been selected press DISPLAY DIRECTORY [2]. After folders have been opened they are selected with the Function Key they are attached to [4] or [5]. The remote folders will be opened automatically when the folder your working on is opened with GET A FOLDER. 1 - FINISH if you don't want to do the folder function. 2 - DISPLAY DIRECTORY will display the folder directory to select a 㐞remote folder to link with. 6 - LIBRARY NAME is used to link the box with an external file using the library name to determine its format and location. ! 35 THE REMOTE BOX LINK MENU Used to select the remote box. 4 - 62 Move the cursor to the remote box you want linked with the box in the local folder. Then press function key [2] to link them. Some boxes will not be available. That is, you can't save to a SEQUENTIAL COUNTER or put TEXT into a number box. Press FINISH [1] if you don't 㐞want to do the folder function. ! 36 INDEX LINK MENU Used to link to a folder with an index value. 4 - 65 Indexed links are used to GET or PUT values to or from remote folders where the remote box is based on a value in another box. This other box is the one you are looking for now, and is called the INDEXED BY box. If it is a TEXT box then the remote box will be the first box that matches the title that is in the INDEXED BY box. If the INDEXED BY box is a numbers box then the remote box numbe㐞 r will be matched to the value in the INDEXED BY box. Move the cursor to the INDEXED BY box and Press INDEXED WITH [2]. Press FINISH if you don't want to do the folder function. ! 37 REPORT MASTER DIRECTORY Used to work with report formats. 4 - 92 This directory is used to select reports you want to print or revise. Move the report selector to the Report title and press: 1 - FINISH will return you to the operating system. 2 - PRINT REPORT to open the folder and selected report, and display 㐞the Printing Reports menu. 3 - REVISE REPORT will allow you to revise a report format. The old format will not be changed. 4 - MAKE A REPORT will make a new report format with the folder selected. 5 - OTHER FUNCTIONS lets you DELETE report formats. 6 - SHOW FOLDERS will display the Folder directory. ! 38 SELECTING A FOLDER Used to select a Remote Folder. 4 - 64 Use the arrow keys to move the folder selector up and down. The screen will scroll when you reach the bottom when there are mor㐞e directory entries. 1 - FINISH will return you to the FOLDER FUNCTIONS MENU. 2 - SELECT FOLDER to use the folder as a remote folder. ! 39 REVISING FOLDER Used to control the revision process. 4 - 84 2 - SAVE AS NEW. Use if no other folders link to the OLD folder, or if you want this folder to be a new folder. Old reports cannot be used with the new folder. 3 - REPLACE OLD. Use if the folder being revised has remote folders linked to it or any report formats defined. This will㐞 maintain all of the links and report formats by renaming the NEW folder's disk file name to be the same as the OLD folder's disk file name. The OLD folder's disk file name will be renamed to BACKUP. ! 40 OTHER FUNCTIONS MENU Second menu from the master Menu. 4 - 85 1 - FINISH will return you to the MASTER MENU. 2 - DELETE FOLDER/REPORT Move the selector to the Folder or Report you want to Delete and Press DELETE. It will ask if you really want to delete it. 3 - SHOW REPORTS/FOLDE㐞RS is used to show the directory of REPORTS for a Folder or Show the Folders if Reports are displayed. 4 - COPY FOLDER is used to copy a folder from one file cabinet to another. 5 - ADD A FOLDER is used to read in a folder from the disk into the directory. You must know the disk file name. 6 - SETUP PASSWORDS is used to enter and add passwords. 7 - CHANGE DATE lets you change the system date. ! 41 SETUP PASSWORDS MENU Used to perform password maintenance. 4 - 88 1 - FINISH will return y㐞ou to the OTHER FUNCTIONS menu. 2 - RE-ENTER PASSWORD lets you reenter the password. 3 - LIST PASSWORDS only if you're at level 255. This will list all of the passwords on the screen. 4 - DELETE PASSWORD will ask for the password, check if you want to delete it, then have you re-enter your password. 5 - ADD A PASSWORD lets you add a new password to the list. If your level is 255 then you can change levels and set up READ ONLY, WRITE and REVISE Flags. Enter DEMO as a password to re㐞cord and play Demos. ! 42 SELECT FILE CABINET Used to change the logged on drive. 4 - 94 Each drive and diskette has a folder directory. Use this function to view other folder directories. PATH NAMES can be used to create other directories on the same disk. If you want to change Disks then Change them now. Select the drive by pressing the function key. CAUTION: NEVER REMOVE THE FILES & FOLDERS DISK. The program is loaded in parts, and needs this disk to load the different sections. ! 4㐞3 DEMO MENU Used to record and play demos. 4 - 90 Select demo 1, 2, 3, or 4 and press PLAY DEMO [2]. Press any key to stop and start the demo. To exit the demo press a key to stop it then press ALT 10. The keyboard is then under your control. If you want to record a demo press RECORD DEMO [3]. Each key pressed will be saved on the disk. Press ALT 9 to stop the recording. To make a demo repeat, while recording, return to the demo menu by entering DEMO as a password and select and play the next 㐞demo. The recording will stop automatically and the next demo will run. ! 44 DATA & NAMES MENU Used to define box's DATA and NAMES. 4 - 78 Each box stores information. Since information comes in different forms it is important to control what is stored in a box. You don't want to be adding numbers up and have a date appear. All boxes default to TEXT which is anything, letters, numbers and symbols. 2 - NUMBERS lets you save number values, positive or negative. 3 - DATE OF REPORT lets you build 㐞 a date format mask. The system date will be printed in the selected format. 4 - TIME OF REPORT lets you print the system time. 5 - PAGE NUMBER will print the page number. 6 - SEQUENCE COUNTER lets you enter a starting number to count up from. 7 - CLEAR TOGGLE is used to set the box value to clear after printing. ! 45 SHOW BREAK AREA Used to display the report breaks. 4 - 76 Press the level break that you want displayed. 1st Level is the Major and the others are Minor. When a break occurs㐞, (a change in that field) all of the upper levels will print. That is if level 5 breaks (Changes) then 5 is printed. If 4 breaks then 5 and 4 are printed. If 3 breaks then 5, 4, and 3 are printed. If 2 breaks then 5, 4, 3 and 2 are printed. The STARTING LINE number is where that area will start printing. Press [RETURN] and printing will start at the current print location. The ENDING LINE number will be the next print line after printing the ar㐞ea. Press [RETURN] and printing will continue on the next print line. ! 49 WORKING ON REPORT Used to lay out the report format. 4 - 72 Use the arrow keys to move around the folder area. Use the keyboard to make labels for the report. 1 - FINISH will take you to the DATA & NAMES MENU (If you made new boxes) 2 - START A BOX will make box areas to add additional information to the report. 3 - START A WINDOW will let you rearrange the folder layout into a report. 4 - DEFINE AN AREA. Move the c㐞ursor to the UPPER beginning of a report area section you want to define. 5 - SHOW AN AREA to show defined areas. 6 - SCROLL LEFT will shift the screen to the LEFT HAND side of the report. 7 - SCROLL RIGHT will shift the screen to the RIGHT HAND side of the report. You can scroll while CARRYING a window. ! 50 REMOTE FOLDERS Used to get boxes from remote folders 4 - 80 Information in remote folders is available while printing reports. Select the folder with the assigned function key [2] or [㐞3]. The remote folder will appear. Use MAKE A WINDOW to select the boxes to transfer. The report will appear and you can move the boxes around and place them on the report paper. 1 - FINISH will return you to the MAKING A REPORT menu. 2 - "Folder name" FOLDER is one of your remote folders. Press it to display the folder and transfer any of the boxes. 3 - "Folder name" FOLDER is one of your remote folders. Use the arrow keys to define the window size. ! 52 MAKING A WINDOW Used to define an area to transfer to the report Use the arrow keys to make the window larger by moving RIGHT and DOWN. Move UP and LEFT to make the window smaller. After windowing an area press PICK UP & CARRY [3] to transfer the information to the report paper. 3 - PICK UP & CARRY will let you move the window. To drop it Press DROP [3]. You cannot drop a㐞 window on top of another box. To exit move up or left until there is no more window. ! 53 SEARCH & EXPAND MENU Used to expand to other folders 4 - 10 Move to a box, Enter a SEARCH VALUE and press SEARCH FOR [2]. 1 - FINISH will return you the MAKING ENTRIES MENU. 2 - SEARCH FOR will use the value entered in the box and display the match. 3 - PREVIOUS ENTRY will let you move backwards thru the entries. 4 - NEXT ENTRY will let you move forward thru the entries. 5 - REPLACE CARD lets you re㐞vise a prior entry and save it with the same sequential counter (if used). 6 - DELETE CARD will ask "Do you want to delete this card?"
